"This group was founded in 1951. We currently have about 25 members. In recent years we have had talks from visiting poets, including Alan Brownjohn, Wendy Cope, Tobias Hill, Jenny Joseph, Sarah Lawson, Blake Morrison, Carole Satyamurti and Matthew Sweeney. For most of our meetings we have a theme, set in advance, and bring poems on that theme to read round the room. We are more of a poetry appreciation society than a creative writing group, but for those who write poetry this is an opportunity to read your own work and get some feedback. Visitors and new members are always welcome. As we meet in members' homes we have no overheads, so membership is free. Please contact us for further details or visit our website."
