New to the Poetry Library is the winning pamphlet of the inaugural Michael Marks Award for Poetry Pamphlets.
The shortest days by Elizabeth Burns won the award for outstanding work in poetry published in pamphlet form. The work contains eleven elegiac poems in a clean, beautifully and simply presented pamphlet, published by the Orkney-based Galdragon Press. The Chair of the judges, Ian McMillan, said of The shortest days ""Elizabeth Burns is an outstanding winner from a very strong shortlist because of the maturity and completeness of the work, which fits the pamphlet form perfectly."
