With poetry pamphlet publications being celebrated by the announcement of this year's winners of the Michael Marks award and with interest in the pamphlet form at an all time high in the Poetry Library, two books have recently been received relating to two distinguished pamphlet publishers.

"John Fuller & the Sycamore Press : a bibliographic history" tells the story of John Fuller's Sycamore Press from its establishment in his garage in Oxford in 1968 to its final publication in 1992.  As well as publishing poetry giants such as W. H. Auden, Philip Larkin and Peter Porter, the press also published the work of young poets and was the first publisher of Mick Imlah and novelist Alan Hollinghurst, who contributes to the book.

"A field of large desires : a Greville Press anthology, 1975-2010" is an anthology of work published by the Greville Press.  The press was founded by Anthony Astbury in 1975 to publish the work of two poets he was friends with, George Barker and W. S. Graham.  However, on setting up the press Astbury did not realise "I would not be able to stop" and the press continues today publishing new work, championing the neglected and delighting in the classics.  Poets published in 2010 include Michael Schmidt, Elizabeth Daryush and Thomas Hardy.

The pamphlets published by these presses are beautifully and carefully produced and the Poetry Library holds many of them in its collection.
