A Secret Location on the Lower East Side

If you're interested in U.S. poetry of the 60s and 70s, then both of these titles are worth a look. Written, Drawn and Stapled is an illustrated catalogue for an exhibition held at the 8th Small Publishers Fair in London in 2009. It's a neat little package,  introduced by Les Coleman, which includes poetry from some of the main players of the New York scene and an illustrated bibliography.   A secret location on the Lower East Side is a meatier affair. Based on a 1998 exhibition at the New York Public Library, it focuses on the New York scene but also examines small press publishing in San Francisco during the same period. Packed with illustrations and photographs, it's a fascinating history of two decades which produced ground-breaking work.
