Palestinian and Israeli members of the Families Forum, who have worked to create the Fabric of War exhibition, discuss their work at the Poetry Library. Free tickets are available from the Southbank Centre ticket office or at The event begins at 8pm.

Fabric of War is on at the Poetry Library until Wednesday 1 December. Twenty Palestinian and Israeli women bereaved by conflict have together made paper out of materials associated with their lost ones. From this fabric of shared experience they have created works that testify silently amid the words and walls that seek to divide them.

Robi Damelin, an Israeli woman whose son was killed by a Palestinian sniper, and Ali Abu Awwad, a Palestinian man whose brother was killed by an Israeli soldier, are receiving the Gandhi Foundation Peace Award 2010 on behalf of the Parents Circle-Families Forum at the House of Lords on 3rd November. They will be joined by Siham Abu Awwad, a Palestinian woman who took part in the paper-making, to speak at the Poetry Library, Southbank Centre, as part of Poetry International 2011.

This is a collaborative project with the Courtauld Institute of Art, Somerset House (across Waterloo Bridge), where more of the exhibition is on view.
