Special Events in the Poetry Library in September | 27-Aug-11

There are still places available fort two very special events in the Poetry Library in September which will include legendary concrete poet Eugen Gomringer, T.S. Eliot prizewinner George Szirtes and Macedonian-Slovenian poet Lidija Dimkovska.

Wednesday 7 September 2011, 8pm

An evening with Macedonian-Slovenian poet Lidija Dimkovska, author of Do Not Awaken Them with Hammers. Lidija reads her poems in Macedonian with her English translator Peggy Reid, and then presents TS Eliot Prize winner and translator George Szirtes. Discussion and questions from the audience follow.

Event on Concrete Poetry
Monday 12 September 2011, 7pm

The influential artist, poet, publisher and curator Eugen Gomringer reads and discusses his work.

Widely acknowledged as a founder of Concrete poetry, Gomringer remains a pivotal figure in the development of form in poetry.

This is a rare opportunity to see him in the UK.
