Ambit magazine appoints new editor | 08-Aug-13

The long-running magazine Ambit is about to have its first new editor. Dr Martin Bax, who has been editing Ambit since its first issue 52 years ago, will now become Editor Emeritus, while the Editor role will be taken over by Briony Bax.

Briony is the daughter of the late poet Adrian Mitchell. She aims to retain the eclecticism of Ambit while simultaneously providing more poetry readings, digital offerings, educational events and festival performances.

Over the years Ambit has featured the likes of JG Ballard, William Boroughs, Peter Porter and Adrian Henri, along with artists Sir Peter Blake, David Hockney and Sir Eduardo Paolozzi.

Briony Bax says of the announcement: "I'm honored and delighted to have been asked to be [Martin's] successor. I've been a long-time subscriber, a contributor and a fan and I am looking forward to taking Ambit back to its roots - to find new talent in poetry, short stories and art."

The next issue of Ambit will be launched in October. For more information, visit:
