Emma Press is seeking submissions | 15-Oct-13

The Emma Press is planning a pair of anthologies themed around motherhood and fatherhood, due for publication next Spring.

Publisher Emma Wright says: 'We received several strong motherhood-themed submissions for the Emma Press Picks pamphlet series a few months ago, which gave us the idea of launching a general call and compiling an anthology. We?re hoping to attract a variety of responses to the theme, not just poems from the point of view of mothers and fathers but also people reflecting on their own parents, their hypothetical children, the expectations of parents in society and parenthood in myths and literature.'

The deadline for submissions to the motherhood and fatherhood anthologies is 16th December 2013 and full details of how to submit can be found on the publisher's website:

The Emma Press has also launched an open call for submissions to a poetry anthology about homesickness and
exile. The independent publisher hopes to attract a wide range of responses to the brief, from international poets at all stages of their careers.

Publisher Emma Wright explains: 'The anthology is inspired by the Tristia, a collection of poems written by the Roman poet Ovid after he was banished from Rome by the Emperor Augustus. We want to take the basic concept of the Tristia and expand the focus to include meditations by multiple poets on themes such as identity, belonging, emigration, holidays, exile of all varieties, and the meaning of 'home'.'
The anthology is scheduled for publication in September 2014.

The deadline for submissions is 5th January 2014 and full details of how to submit can be found on the publisher's website.
