Winners of Tower Poetry competition announced | 20-Apr-16

At a lunchtime reception in Christ Church, Oxford, Ashani Lewis, from The Tiffin Girls' School, Surrey, was awarded the £3,000 first prize for her poem 'Flowers From The Dark'.  The judges were Alan Gillis, Katherine Rundell and Peter McDonald.

The winner of the second (£1,000) prize Safah Ahmed (Newham Collegiate Sixth Form Centre, London) with 'Accent' and the third prizewinner, Sophia West (Oxford High School) won £500 with 'The Awakening'. Their schools receive £150 each. Each of the three prizewinners are invited to the Tower Poetry Summer School, worth £750 approximately.
 
The other short-listed winners, who each received £250, were: Natasha Blinder (South Hampstead High School, London), Ed Pryor (Oundle School, Peterborough), and Grace Fraser (Hartismere High School, Suffolk).
