Poetry award season! | 29-Jun-17

June has been a busy month for poetry award announcements.

On June 9th the shortlist for the 2017 Seamus Heaney Centre for Poetry Prize for First Full Collection was announced:
The winner was announced on June 30th as Adam Crothers for Several Deer.

On June 12th it was the shortlists for the 2017 Forward Prizes for Poetry:
These include awards Best Collection, Best First Collection and Best Poem. 

And on the same day the shortlist for Ledbury Forte Poetry Prize was announced:
This is a brand new biannual prize for second collections.

On 20th June The Society of Authors announced the winner of this year's Cholmondeley Awards:
and the winners of this year's Eric Gregory Awards:
Melissa Lee-Houghton won a Somerset Maugham Award:

On 28th June Roehampton announced Denise Riley's Say Something Back as the winner of the 2017 Roehampton Poetry Prize, along with the shortlisted books: 

And on 30th June Wayne Holloway-Smith was announced as the winner of The Poetry Society's Geoffrey Dreamer Prize.
His collection Alarum was also shortlisted for the Roehampton Poetry Prize.
