Poems in the Waiting Room awarded grant | 04-Apr-06

In December we reported that Poems in the Waiting Room were looking for a sponsor, having lost Arts Council funding. We now have good news that the service will continue in the North of England, thanks to a grant from the Emerton Christie Charitable Trust.

Poems in the Waiting Room have sent us the following statement:

"Poems in the Waiting Room has been awarded a grant by the Emerton Christie Charitable Trust to help restore its circulation after the cut-back following failure of Arts Council's support. The grant from the Trust, based in Carlisle, will enable Poems in the Waiting Room to restore normal service in the North for the forthcoming summer edition. This edition will be distributed to some 500 NHS waiting rooms with a circulation of some 15,000 small collections of poetry for pateints to read and to keep."

Anyone interested in supporting the project further should contact Michael Lee at
