Shortlist announced for London Festival Fringe New Poetry Award | 04-Jul-10

The shortlist for the £2,500 London Festival Fringe New Poetry Award has been announced. 15 debut collections have been chosen from the 77 published in the past year throughout Britain and Ireland.

The 15 collections are:

Unexpected Weather, Abi Curtis (Salt)
Snow Calling, Agnieszka Studzinska (Salt)
Inroads, Carolyn Jess-Cooke (Seren Books)
The Tethers, Carrie Etter (Seren Books)
The Method Men, David Briggs (Salt)
Breath, Ellen Phethean (Flambard Press)
When God Has Been Called Away to Greater Things, Grace Wells (Dedalus Press)
Berg, Hilary Menos (Seren Books)
King of Country, Howard Wright (Blackstaff Press)
The Girl with the Cactus Handshake, Katrina Naomi (Templar Poetry)
Insensible Heart, Maureen Jivani (Mulfran Press)
A Republic of Linen, Patrick Brandon (Bloodaxe Books)
New Light for the Old Dark, Sam Willetts (Cape Poetry)
How to Build a City, Tom Chivers (Salt)
Even the Sea, Eleanor Livingstone (Red Squirrel Press)

The Poetry & Jazz Awards announcements will happen at Pizza Express Jazz Club Soho on 16th August, the Awards Ceremony at the Waldorf Hilton on 28th August, and a celebration reading by the winner and shortlisted poets, and Poetry Panel judges, will be at Coffee-House Poetry at the Troubadour on 1st November.

The judges for the award will be Daljit Nagra, Tamar Yoseloff and Adam O'Riordan. The chair of the judging panel is Ann-Marie Fyfe.
