PN Review sets up online archive | 08-Jan-11

The long-running poetry magazine PN Review has launched a complete digital archive, featuring over 200 issues and four decades of work, at

More than 7000 interviews, poems, essays, features and reviews by 1625 contributors are available to subscribers, with much material open access.

Michael Schmidt, editor of the magazine since its inception in 1973, said: "It feels as though we've achieved as much as a dozen magazines. The conversations with Isherwood, Genet, Beckett, Lennox Berkeley, four Ashbery and three Murray interviews, the many now-famous poems first published here... modern literature has much to be thankful for, and it's suddenly all here at our fingertips!"

The online resource was produced over four years, with assistance from the Arts Council England. It provides access to articles that show the magazine's dedication to modern poetry - it has previously published early work by poets including Andrew Motion, Blake Morrison, Sophie Hannah, Sujata Bhatt, Sinéad Morrissey and Jane Yeh.
