Award for Wislawa Szymborska | 31-Jan-11

Wislawa Szymborska has received the Order of the White Eagle, Poland's highest distinction. Szymborska, who has published over 20 books since her debut in 1945, has been translated into over a dozen languages. In 1996 she was awarded the Nobel prize for Literature. Her collection 'People on a Bridge' was included in artist Sara McKillop's summer 2010 exhibition 'Certificates of Readership' at the Poetry Library. 'Polish culture is the country's most acclaimed brand the world over', said Culture Minister Bogdan Zdrojewski.
