Sorley Maclean composition competition | 15-Feb-11

StAnza: Scotland's International Poetry Festival, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the University of St Andrews have announced the winners of their composition competition, held to celebrate the work of acclaimed Scottish Gaelic poet Sorley MacLean.

Entrants were required to set to music one of three selected poems by Sorley MacLean: 'An Autumn Day', 'Dogs and Wolves' and 'Under Sail'. The winners were Elizabeth Cowe who studied cello at Napier University and the University of Edinburgh, Matthew Oglesby , a young composer based in Leeds, and Lliam Paterson who is currently studying at Cambridge University.
