Unpublished poet wins National Poetry Competition

Press release says:
On 24 March, in the glamorous surroundings of the Savile Club in London, Paul Adrian was announced as the winner of the National Poetry Competition 2010 with his outstanding poem 'Robin in Flight'.

Paul's poem was selected by judges Sinéad Morrissey, George Szirtes and Deryn Rees-Jones. Joint second place was awarded to Josephine Haslam for her poem 'Wish' and Matthew Sweeney for his poem 'A History of Glassblowing'.

The commended poets were Caroline Carver, Carmen Bugan, Vicki Feaver, Giles Goodland, Ann Gray, David Thorley, and John Wedgwood Clarke.

The National Poetry Competition 2011 will open for entries on 7 April with judges Colette Bryce, John Glenday and Jackie Kay.
