Kate Camp wins New Zealand Post Book Award for poetry | 09-Aug-11

Kate Camp is the winner of the New Zealand Post Book Award, in the poetry category, for her latest collection, The Mirror of Simple Annihilated Souls.

Kate Camp is a poet, and her first collection, Unfamiliar Legends of the Stars, won the NZSA Jessie Mackay Award for Best First Book of Poetry at the 1999 Montana New Zealand Book Awards.  Camp is also a reviewer and essayist, and is a familiar voice on Radio NZ.  Her writing has also been published in an impressive range of journals.

Kate Camp is also this year's recipient of the Creative New Zealand $60,000 Berlin Writers' Residency and will spend a year in Berlin from September. See Beattie's Book Blog for more details.
