Big Give Christmas Campaign at Scottish Poetry Library | 06-Dec-12

Big Give Christmas Campaign at Scottish Poetry Library.

Publicity material for this campaign says:

Give a gift to poetry this Christmas

Has poetry raised your spirits this year? Would you be willing to give something back - to help us to bring more people together with more poems?

- At 10.00am on 6, 7 and 8 December, you can help the Scottish Poetry Library by taking part in the Big Give Christmas Campaign.
-The Big Give Christmas Challenge is a competition for a pot of matched-funding released each day. Your donation could be doubled!

- Although we ask that donations be made at 10.00am on 6, 7 and 8 December, when the sum given might be doubled, you can donate to the SPL at any time.

- Take part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge via a special donation button on our home page.

- If 500 subscribers to our newsletter were to give us £10 each, we would raise £5000, surpassing our target.

-The money will be used to support the exciting projects we have planned for 2013, the Year of Natural Scotland.

On 6, 7 and 8 December, you can help the Scottish Poetry Library by taking part in the Big Give Christmas Campaign.

The Big Give Christmas Challenge is a competition for a pot of matched-funding released each day.  What that means in practice is that if you donate online during the Big Give Christmas Challenge, your donation could be doubled - for example, £25 could net us £25 more.

Funding is allocated on a first come, first served basis and we'll be up against other charities. Here's the important part. The closer to 10 a.m. that you make your donation, the more likely the sum will be doubled.

Our website (www.scottishpoetrylibrary.org.uk) will have a direct link to the Big Give with a "donate now" button on the home page or you can donate via the link: http://new.thebiggive.org.uk/project/17084

Our goal is to raise £4,000 from our Friends, supporters and borrowers. If 500 of the subecribers to our newsletter gave £10 each, we would raise £5000, surpassing our target. The money will be used to support the exciting projects we have planned for next year.

We are already planning a programme for 2013 that will link to what has been designated Year of Natural Scotland.  We want to take to the outdoors and work with poets in the four Botanic Gardens of Scotland, providing poetry walks, workshops and inspiration. A donation to the Big Give Christmas Challenge is one way you can help the Scottish Poetry Library take poetry to more people than ever before.

So, this Christmas, as you buy for gifts for family and friends, don't leave out that most faithful of companions. Please give poetry a present by donating via our website on 6, 7 and 8 December.
