"There is nothing that evokes..." | 28-Jun-05

"There is (N?)nothing (little?) that evokes in (speaks to me of...? me such a sense of the passage (passing?) of time as the tolling (sound?) of a bell by (near? on? a beach."

Quote may not be exact, but all the sense and elements are there, particularly the 'time, 'bell' and 'beach'. I am fairly certain it was by a famous poet (most likely) or writer, I think male, and it was either a short poem or a quote. I just possibly may be the opening of a novel, but I think it is either a poem or a quote.
