I know nothing of the quote, but it is clearly 'northern' looking. the word 'hed' sounds somewhat Black Country in origin.
I am currrently researching my family tree, and in the Kinsgsley (Staffordshire) Parish Registers, there are MANY 'chance child' baptisms in the 17th and 18th centuries.
