Crabapple red... | 16-Oct-07

Enquirer is looking for a poem learned in the 1940s. The poem is possibly about a child's dream.

The last line of the poem is

"'Crabapple red,' said she, and I was back in bed"

with each preceding verse ending similarly, eg. "Crabapple green,' said she..."

Comments:

Our colleague at the Scottish Poetry Library (www.spl.org.uk) spotted this one for us. The poem is 'Crab-Apple' by Ethel Talbot, and can be found in the anthology Time for Poetry, published by Scott, Foresman and Co. in 1968. Thanks SPL!
