All the people of the lulled and dumbfound town | 18-Jun-08

"and all the people of the lulled and dumbfound town are sleeping.
Farmers and fishers, babies, policemen
drunkard and dressmaker, web foot cockle women and the tidy wives.
Only your eyes are unclosed to see the black and folded town, fast and slow, fast asleep"

Enquirer heard this poem used some time ago on a TV advert.

Comments:

This is from Dylan Thomas's verse play (originally written for radio) UNDER MILK WOOD - it should be easily available both as a printed and a talking book.
Tina Rath

The quotation is to be found in Dylan Thomas's "Under Milk Wood". (Near the beginning.)
Leslie McIntosh
