The Lesson by Roger McGough
(I can't remember the first verse)

'The lesson for today is violence
And homework will be set.
I'm going to teach you a lesson,
One you never will forget.'

etc
Hester Lean

Thanks to Hester for identifying the poem. 'The Lesson' can be found on p195 of Roger McGough's Collected Poems, published by Penguin in 2003. It is subtitled 'A poem that raises the question: Should there be capital punishment in schools?'!
Poetry Library

Chaos ruled O.K.in the classroom
as bravely the teacher walked in
the nooligans ignored him
his voice was lost in the din

The theme for today is violence
and homework will be set

I have the rest,if anyone wants it.
