The First Wild Rose - Oh yeh, oh yeh, there is news today | 20-Jun-11

Enquirer is trying to locate a poem remembered from childhood.  It appeared in the poetry section of the "Pictorial Knowledge" children's encyclopedias published in the 1950s.

It was called  "The First Wild Rose" and the first line was "Oh yeh, oh yeh, there is  news today" (may have been "oh yez"). The enquirer has suggested it could have been written by either Christina Rossetti or Enid Blyton.

Do you know this poem? Do you have any clues to help us find it?

Comments:

The first words will almost certainly be "Oyez, Oyez" (Listen up - the traditional introduction of the Town Crier)... unfortunately this hasn't helped in googling it...

Have tracked down the First Wild Rose! It's by Enid Blyton and I found it in the 1976 edn of The Big Enid Blyton Book.
